Between my back-to-back trips to Las Vegas and Maui, I had a very important reason to return to the East Coast for a mere fifty-two hours. The very first of my high school crew was getting hitched, and there was no way I was going to miss it. Amanda is one of my favorite people to catch up with whenever our busy schedules overlap, and reminiscing over our younger year antics — like our high school exchange trip to Costa Rica, or our wild after-prom weekend  — always makes me laugh.

The weather in Upstate New York can be pretty hit or miss in May, so I was overjoyed to see nothing but bright blue skies and fluffy white clouds as hometown bestie Kristin and I road tripped up to Lake George for the wedding. Lake George is an incredibly popular Adirondacks getaway, and I’ve spent surprisingly little time there in my life considering how close it is to Albany — this was the perfect excuse to return.

The highlight of the ceremony was seeing Amanda in her dress, and seeing Chris see her in her dress, and of course waving obnoxiously to our friend Michelle, who was killing it in her role as hot bridesmaid.

Post-ceremony the bride and groom peeled out in Chris’s own baby blue Cadillac, which was just about as charming as charming can possibly be. I’m bummed I didn’t get a picture of the adorable trolleys they hired to take us to the reception site, or, now that I think about it, an exterior shot of the beautiful itself. Let’s just say the appetizers and champagne bar were a little too distracting. Though really, it was impossible not to notice all the heart-filled details Amanda put into the day, or the stunning setting she and Chris had chosen.

After a lovely cocktail hour on the deck, it was time to get the party started! Amanda made the wise choice to sit Kristin and I directly next to the cake and the dance floor, which I like to think is a sign of how well she knows me.

Once the heart-melting first dance was complete, the dance floor was officially open. I had already been super excited for the wedding when I was informed that favorite local band would be playing, which seriously upped the I-can’t-wait-factor. You know those weddings where there are just a few lively guests on the dance floor, constantly trying to coax the reluctant crowds up to do a rendition of the Chicken Dance? (I mean, I know them from movies. My friends tend to throw really good parties, just sayin’.) This was not one of those weddings. We rocked that reception to the ground.

Yup, that is in fact the bride breaking it down with the cowbell. Have I mentioned Amanda knows how to have a good time? Now, please hold for a serious collection of prop-fueled party pictures. It was one for the books.

As always, it meant to much to me to be able to be physically present for such a monumental moment in one of my dear friend’s lives. Chris and Amanda, thank you for letting us all be a part of it! I wish you a lifetime of laughter and a fabulous honeymoon in Italy.

Congratulations Chris and Amanda!

Thanks Ashley! I was having a really rough month around the time of the wedding (all will be reveled in the roundups, as usual) and one day my mom said, alright, I can’t solve most of your problems but I can buy you a new dress for this wedding! (Previously I had moaned that I didn’t have the money to buy anything new and was going to wear some old thing.) It was very fun going shopping together which we haven’t done since I was in high school. She’s the best.

Ha, the sunglasses were a great touch! She also had flip flops out for all the ladies — great touch to keep people dancing!

Can’t wait to read it! Weddings are the best (or everyone warns me so I say now… ask me after I’ve been to 30 of them and drained my bank account doing so). πŸ™‚

You definitely win the wedding attending award, though I do work my schedule pretty extensively to attend them. Actually, I’m sure you do the same! So far only one next summer…
