Happy Monday! The past week found me in Boston and Albany. Boston was the perfect stopover en route back from Martha’s Vineyard, especially since my little sister recently relocated there from New Orleans. I’ve been to the city dozens of times — my Dad lived in Cambridge for years, and Albany is less than three hours away — yet I’ve never really fallen in love with it. I’m looking forward to discovering a new side to it now, though, and we got off to a great start with this trip. Sleepovers at the hotel, cocktails at , morning walks through the Commons, and an afternoon at my old favorite the — this trip was short but sweet.

Post Boston, I spent a few days in Albany trying to get back on track with work and to keep preparing for upcoming travels. Considering how productive I am when I’m there (and how cute Tucker is when we’re both there), it’s kind of hard to tear myself away. But I’ve only been down in New York City for one night since I got back stateside — shameful! — and Brooklyn calls. Looking forward to a week spent working and playing back in my favorite city.

Check out the end of this post for some exciting blog news but for now, onto Photo of the Week!

I love Picture B! The contrast between the red brickstone and the grey modern buildings is very striking! But one of my favorite pictures that you posted this week was actually the one of your cousin in the Aquarium on Instagram! šŸ™‚ That was silhouetting at its absolute finest! šŸ™‚

I think your featured blogger program sounds awesome – way to help others and yourself simultaneously!

Have a great week in Brooklyn. If you hear a lanky white boy you don’t know shout “Meihoukai?” don’t be too startled, it’s probably me. I promise I’m not too creepy…er.

I LOVE Boston. I’ve been a handful of times (I used to date a guy who lived about an hour outside of Boston), and I could still go back. I love that it’s such a walking city and that you never run out of things to see. I also like the blend of old and new, but I think photo A wins it for me.

  • Are you serious with that Jellyfish shot?? Looks incredible! You’re basically a professional photographer. I loved Boston, but definitely did not get enough time to explore there. Hope your sister is loving the change of scenery (and accents)!

  • Love group A! I recently moved back to my hometown of Boston after 5 years in New York City and while obviously it’s no New York… I have to say things are GREATLY improving from when I left the city as fast as I could after graduating college haha. I mean we have Shake Shack now… and the SoWa market is (almost? kinda?) like the Brooklyn Flea/Smorgasborg. Also my first job ever was a tour guide at the Aquarium so it holds a special place in my heart!

  • I’m heading to Boston for the Labor Day weekend! Is it do-able to see Martha’s Vineyard for one day while I’m in that area? I was thinking of taking the ferry from Hyannis to Oaks Bluff – will we get a taste of what Martha’s Vineyard is all about do you think?

Hey Amanda! How fun! Lots of people do day trips to Martha’s Vineyard. While I’m of course biased to think the more time the better, you should absolutely go for the day if you have the opportunity. You can easily use public buses to get around to all the towns on the island, with Oak Bluffs obviously being my favorite! Edgartown is also beautiful and a completely different feel. Up Island is beautiful with the iconic cliffs an the more rural setting but depending on your schedule it might not be a great use of your time to get out there. If you think you’ll be there late enough to have dinner, I’d consider Red Kat Kitchen in Oak Bluffs or Port Hunter in Edgartown — two of my favorite restaurants on the island! Hope that helps… let me know if you want more advice šŸ™‚

      • This is PERFECT! Thank you so much Meihoukai for taking the time to give me advice! I will definitely let you know if I need more advice šŸ™‚ Can’t wait to start planning this day trip now, eek!
