Martha’s Vineyard is a beautiful place to practice yoga. It’s an island with a naturally calming and creative energy, and so it’s no surprise that there are studios dotted all over it’s relatively small square mileage. Over my years of vacationing on the Vineyard with my family, I’ve tried a diverse array of class offerings taking place everywhere from studios to paddleboards to quiet sections of the beach.
Someday, I hope to have practiced in all the island’s studios. And while I still have a fair few to hit (ONEhotyoga, Yoga Haven, Aloha Paddle MV, and classes at the YMCA and Mansion House are all on my wish list), I decided to start compiling a record myself and resource for future Vineyard travelers of those I already love.
As with most Vineyard business, the summer is high season and schedules are extensive during that time and limited at others. Many teachers teach at multiple studios around the island, so if you find one you love, ask where else they lead practice!
Here are a few ideas to help you find a mat — or board, or a patch of sand — on Martha’s.
Yoga on the Vine
Tucked into a clapboard shopping center between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs, Yoga on the Vine is a charming little studio with an impressive array of classes. I’ve been itching to try aerial yoga for years, and always imagined that my first class would take place in a big city like New York or Chicago — after all, those are the kind of places that have niche practices like that, right? Apparently, not always! When I spotted an aerial hatha class on the schedule at Yoga on the Vine, I enrolled before you could say om.
With space for just six students, reservations are recommended for aerial classes. Other offerings include vinyasa, slow vinyasa, prenatal classes, and private instruction. Yoga on the Vine is attached to its sister venture, — a holistic healing center and spa. I look forward to trying more classes at this cute studio!

Located in rural West Tisbury, Yoga Barn might just be Martha’s Vineyard’s most beautiful studio to practice in. Built using salvaged materials, run as sustainably as possible and created specifically for yoga, it’s an inspiring space. There is also a bodyworks center onsite, and Yoga Barn frequently hosts workshops, events, teacher trainings, and community classes.
Due to its location, I’ve only taken a few (very crowded — it’s popular!) classes here, though a return is certainly imminent.

Primarily a kayak company, Island Spirit offers a range of SUP tours and classes — including a Stand Up Paddle yoga class in conjunction with Yoga on the Vine. The ninety minute classes, offered three times a week, meet at State Beach between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. Having taken several SUP yoga classes around the world (including in Bermuda, Tampa, Aruba and Cusco), I was excited to bring a big group of family and friends to this one.
Much of the ninety minute class is spent paddling out to the anchor site and arranging the anchors, however I appreciated the beauty of our setting, a bit of time to work on our own favorite postures and getting to try one of my favorite things in my favorite places! Due to the cost of the class I won’t be a regular here, but I might treat myself to one per summer.

Martha’s Vineyard Yoga Center
Located in the heart of central Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard Yoga Center is a convenient choice for those staying in my favorite town on the island. As an Oak Bluffs resident when I’m on the Vineyard, this studio can’t be beat for location — I love walking to class!
The schedule includes classes in vinyasa, kripalu, and other methodologies. Workshops and private instruction are also available.

Mansion House Health Club
While it’s technically a hotel health center, is one of the largest gyms on the island, after the YMCA. They offer a huge variety of fitness classes, including at least one yoga class per day. What I love about Mansion House is that taking a class gives you access to the full gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. You could literally make a day of it! Plus, a 12 class punch card works out to $11.58 per class, and get this — it’s good for a whole two years and can be shared among family or friends. A variety of other weekly or monthly memberships are also available.
For a gym with a fancy name and prime real estate, it’s the best deal I’ve found on the island.

Where To Find Yoga Classes on Martha’s Vineyard
New to the island and not sure where to find yoga classes? Look no further — the best resource is . I wish everywhere I traveled and lived had a resource like this — it compiles the updated schedules of each and every studio on the island each and every week, allowing you to check the entire Vineyard’s yoga listings in one convenient spot.
For example, if you know you want to catch a class on Tuesday, instead of having to go to each and every studio’s schedule page, you can simply head to Martha’s Vineyard Yoga. Go to that day and, if you wish, narrow down by town, and boom — there are all the classes available on Tuesday at all studios, arranged chronologically by class start time.
